Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
We routinely help employees navigate the complaint or “charge” process through the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) and the Washington State Human Rights Commission (“WSHRC”). The EEOC is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. The WSHRC is responsible for enforcing state laws that protect all people in Washington from unfair and discriminatory practices in employment, real estate transactions, public accommodations, credit, insurance, as well as health care whistleblower, and state employee whistleblower complaints.
Whether you are filing a charge with the EEOC or the WSHRC, MBE Law Group is here to help. Our attorneys routinely process charges and represent claimants throughout the EEOC or WSHRC process. We are able to represent you from the filing of your charge (intake) through any EEOC/WSHRC mediation, investigation, or conciliation. We can similarly help you navigate the complexities of each regulatory agency and advise you on the appropriate course to take at any given stage in the proceedings.
It is important to remember that your employer cannot retaliate against you for bringing forth a charge of discrimination or for participating in an investigation concerning a charge of discrimination. If you feel as though you may be a victim of retaliation, we encourage you to contact our offices immediately and speak with an experienced employment attorney.
